Wednesday, April 12, 1911 The Polo Grounds New York: A portion of the crowd at the opening game watch John McGraw's Giants lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0. Despite this setback the Giants would win McGraw's third pennant that year. Just two days later came the great fire that destroyed this wooden version of The Polo Grounds.

That is correct. Games were much quicker in those days.
