1. In the 1920 WS, Bill Wambsganss made an unassisted triple play. Who hit into it?

2. Also in 1920, the spitball was abolished, but a few pitchers were "grandfathered" to allow them to continue throwing the spitball. Who was the last pitcher to legally throw a spitball lefthanded?

I'm sorry, the question had a minor inaccuracy. The correct form is "Who was the last pitcher to legally throw a spitball lefthanded?"

I'm glad you posted this, because, although I could be wrong, I believe there were two lefties who were grandfathered.

One was Dutch Leonard (I), but I believe the last lefty was New York's Clarence Mitchell. :coffee

Ding Ding Ding! Clarence Mitchell is indeed the answer to both questions.

Not a very good player, but he's the answer to two trivia questions.

Okay, bright eyes. Who were the runners on base? Who was the 2nd out, and who was the 3rd out? What team was Wamby on, and who was the opponent?

By the way, I have a picture of the play in a book one of my uncles gave me on my 12th birthday. It seems like everyone froze but Wamby.
