Anybody see anything unusual with this Phillies lineup from 1961?

My first thought was that it was a home game, and there was a bench-clearing brawl in the top of the first, in which the pitcher, catcher, and a couple other players were ejected. However, I then discarded that idea (though that could still be part of it) because in a couple positions, there is yet another player who had no at bats in the game and was seemingly removed in the first inning.
That led me to think that the lineup card was filled out wrong, becasue the only "Short" I'm used to thinking of was a pitcher - though of course that's doesn't work because there could have been a catcher named "Short" and also, why not just write "Short c, p"?
So, i wondered if a few of those guys were put into the lineup in an away game because some guys didn't get there on time, but then taken out; hwoever, you again have the problem of it happening twice. Except Coker caught at least one batter because he's credited with a putout.
I'm curious about this one.

I wonder if the extra inning(s) has anything to do with it.

DTF I think you are on the right trail but you probably dismissed it, and DGarza the weirdness does not have to do with extra innings.

I was thinking the same thing about the brawl when I saw this.
Were there two brawls?

No brawls. It was beside this oddity a rather ordinary game, well except for the fact that Willie Mays hit 3 homers in this game. But that too isn't the oddity.

I looked up some of these players, and the three starters that were removed were all pitchers (Ferrarese, Owens, Short and Lehman)
I'm guessing the manager started 4 pitchers to conceal his starting line-up and/or pitcher?
did the other manager then switch his pitcher, causing the Phillies to change again?

Mauch put a total of 4 pitchers in his starting lineup. Before the first pitch he subbed out three of them. He let his lefty Lehman pitch to two batters before pulling him.
Alvin Dark on the other side had Billy O'Dell start even though he relieved the night before and had only started 4 games before in that season. O'Dell was replaced after one hitter.
After that it returned to normal except for Coker getting pulled after a half inning so that Mauch could get the platoon advantage.

There were 30 Putouts in the game, did it go to 10 innings or is that a mistake?

Game went 10 innings.
The night before, the teams played 15 innings to 7-7 tie, this game went 10 and it was the first game of a doubleheader.
This was game 1 of a DH between Phil and SF on June 29, 1961.

Yes, that was really neat, thanks.
