Here a two clips of me swinging, the first one at an outside pitch and the second is of an inside pitch. I know side view is better than the pitchers view for analysis but my software for editing videos only reads avi. and my side views are in mpeg. format. Anybody know of video editing software for mpeg that is free? Anyway, any suggestions for the swing? Thanks.

It seems to me that your swing is fairly long throughout. Getting into the slot position and cutting the hands across the chest should be a priority. Nyman has a good swing plane image on here - think down and in then up and out, a natural slight uppercut swing.
It's fairly tough to tell without a side view, but the foot plant is similar in both pitches, which is good - you aren't striding based on the location of the pitch.

Looks like a Lance Berkman swing.

Lower the lead elbow to closer to you body then get more bend at the waist and knees. Raise the barrel to splitting your helmet. You are way to flat now.
Getting the barrel in a higher plane and a hand set that has the bottom hand more underneath the top will help you segment the swing and find the barrel with your hands. They are pretty dead now.
Better check the bat slot vs Bergmen AND the loading pattern that takes Bergmen's bat to more vertical as he load.

Hello to everybody here!
I have been reading your forum since last year, and I want to thank everyone for the many good ideas for better teaching baseball.
My name is Giuseppe Massellucci, and I am the manager of the Italian National under 21 y.o. Team.
Although I have the great chance to listen to people like Mr. Lefevbre or Mr. Delmonico when they come to Italy for the summer MLB camp every year, I must admit that MANY people in this forum knows baseball!
I think that you should move a little closer to home plate: the 2 pitches look almost the same (middle/inside and little sliding away), but it seems that you are not really swinging inside the pitch....hope I did not say something stupid.

Although it's against my better judgement, since you're an Aggie fan, here is a thought.
Your swing looks pretty good, but your posture isn't quite right. You are very stiff-legged. This means that you're not getting as much power from your hips as you could.
I would suggest that you try bending your legs a little more. Think "knees bent, butt out". Maybe not as much as Pujols in this photo, but more than you are.

You may also want to try driving your swing more from your hips.
Also, a side view would help see any other problems.

As others have stated, you are too upright (vertical). Bend your knees and slant your back (crouch more.)
Also, as others stated, your bat is horizontal, and it should be 45 degrees or nearly vertical.
The combination of upright posture and horizontal bat, with an almost horizontal upper front arm, forces you to take your hands on a downward path to the ball, from your back shoulder to the ball. What you want to do is tilt over and take your back shoulder down and around toward the ball, and let your front elbow rise up as the bathead goes down, keeping your hands above the ball.
The clip below is over 7 meg, but it shows HR swings by several different MLB players. Note the slant in their backs as they rotate, and that their bat is nearly vertical, none hold it as you do. They flatten the bat, as necessary, to get on plane with the ball. They rotate on a slant, and the front elbow goes up in most cases. If they wait for the pitch upright, their knees bend and they tilt just before they stride, and if they wait in a crouch, they stay crouched. You swing way too upright, and you have to raise the bat to get on plane, which lowers your front elbow, which makes the swing plane be on a downward tilt, instead of the slight upward path the MLB hitters use.
