I always keep more weight on my back leg when in my batting stance, but I've read several books lately that preached having your weight 50-50. But when you stride you have to shift your weight back and then forward to 50-50 when you start to rotate. So why not start your weight back? What are everybody’s thoughts on this??

I don't have a program that can stop each frame, but I wonder if you could take each frame and mark where the weight is centered. What would be best is that weight transfer in relation to the ball. I don't have a clip for that.
Any thoughts?

I'm not exactly clear on this (because I don't know much about batting). But in this clip does Beltran start out evenly weight distributed on both legs and then brings his front leg back and puts the weight on his back leg and then brings the weight forward and is even again at foot strike?

I would say that if you had a bat hanging from his belly button it would hang more to his left than right.

It's not about weight. It's about developing momentum, at least a little but more if you can deal with it is fine, and then very quickly transferring that momentum into rotation. Study everything on siggy's site. I also recommend Englishbey as a resource.

it looks like Ortiz's weight is back and Beltran's weight is even. Most of the hitting clips it seems that most weight is slightly back. The books i was referring to was Tony Gwynn, Ted Williams and Tom Robson's, in which they all preached even weight. It just got me thinking because it makes sense to have some weight back because its going back anyway. As long as it not too much weight which would probably cause you to lunge forward, i think having weight back is more efficient.
