Hello,
I am new to this site but like it so far. I am a coach for a local league and this year will be teaching 14-16year old boys
I am always looking for new (to me) drills and things and about a month or so ago I found this guy named jon doyle.
Has anyone else heard of him? I am looking for honest opinions of what some of you guys (or gals) think of him
thanks
frank

Frank,
Never heard of him nor have I ever seen his name brought up here. That is not to say he's not good, just not known - at least to me. What specifically are you looking for? Maybe we can recomend instructors we do know who have some history of success. (Being an ex-all-American in and of itself is not a big deal when teaching.) Some of the guys here teach up to the pro ranks.

Drills are for building a swing, fixing a problem in a swing or, if they are hitting well, maintaining a swing by doing the same drills, if any, they have been used to doing all along. New drills introduced to a successful hitter are likely a bad idea IMO.
fgold, when you say drills, I'm assuming you mean his strength workouts or strength training methods that are baseball specific. I am not familiar with anyone who has used his program, other than message board people, but in talking with Jon and reading his website, he seems to know his stuff.......

Don't know Doyle. When I hear drills, I assume we are talking about hitting drills.

thanks for the replies guys,
I have been using him for strength and conditioning drills right now, Baseball specific stuff. He also has a warm up video which I have to say I really enjoy and use for off season training that I do with some boys right now.
He is very big on core but not traditional crunches. He is also very big on rotation and rotational strength and explosivness.
He does have a hitting program which I have not gotten yet but I prob will.
I was just wondering if anyone else had looked at some of his stuff.

Ive used jon doyles strength and conditioning programs. we grew up a few towns away from eachother and hes was always a great baseball player. theres a batting cage i go to, that he runs strength camps at, for young ball players. ive watched a few of his dvd's and his hitting drills and especially his strength drills ar great. it really helps you get to strong and quick, not just lift more weight. his dvd's arent free but they are worth the money. i use some of his weight lifting drills and they are serious. ge really focusaes on core strength and flexibility.

that is good to hear, I really am liking his stuff. It is always good to hear from someone who actually knows him. I have started to use the ab workout and it is very good. When I have more time I will post some comments and questions about rotational work
