I noted that your banner headline on nationals.com involved Dawson. Like most Washington fans, I never followed the Expos and thought at first that he was some new acquisition for the Nats. How long will we be burdened with Expos history, which is irrelevant to today's Nats and their fans?

I understand your feelings, but you have to get used to seeing former Expos on this site. Remember, this team came from Montreal. Thus far, Nationals records have been linked to Expos records. For example, Soriano broke the team's single-season home run record, which was held by Vladimir Guerrero, who was a member of the Expos.

Wow. That person has some gall. "Burdened" by Expos history?
When the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens, were the Baltimore fans burdened by the Browns' history? When the Washington Senators moved to Minnesota and became the Twins, were the new Minnesota fans burdened by the Senators' history? When the Colorado Rockies moved to New Jersey and became the Devils, was the history of the Rockies and the Kansas City Scouts a burden to New Jersey fans?

Expos records are Expos records. The Nationals should have their own. Frankly, I kind of agree with the guy. Dawson, Raines, Wallach, Guerrero, those names have no business being in media guides, record books et al. of the Nationals.

That's how I feel too. 1969-2004 is a seperate franchise. 2005 onwards is another. They don't deserve the Perfect game, the no-hitters, the cycles and all the batting records. Vlad was never 'A great National'. Simple as that to me...

Shows how much respect they and mlb have for the game and its history - "burdened"? They have a team don't they? Some burden. On the other hand I for one would rather that the history of the Expos is not soiled by anything to do with gnats.

I agree with the above poster. The Expos once were a very good franchise, that just fell on hard times. With the Mets and Braves teams of the mid to late 90s i dont blame them for struggling. Dont forget the Marlins in 97 were a wildcard....and i dont remmember where i was gonig with that cuz i got up and did something else.
Anyway, whats the highest wind total for the nationals so far? Cant be above 75... Expos highest was about 94 (thats a guess)

They won 95 games in 1979, and 94 in 1993.

Let the Gnats have their own history. In the next 10 years, there will be a record broken in some kind of category.
It gives the writer of the text mentioned above, at least something to cheer about. His team doesn't give him much reason to cheer...

On second thought my response to this #$%^& should have read:
Like most Montreal Expos fans, we actually know something about the game and have respect for its history. How long will we be burdened by the history of the Expos being soiled by any association with the lowly gnats - a team that is irrelevant?
