MLB and the Dutch baseball federation (KNBSB) have signed an agreement. MLB will spend about € 100,000 per year. The money will generally used for baseball material, but also on guest trainers from the US.
For MLB this amount will be peanuts, but for Dutch baseball it is a huge amount.

Glad to hear MLB is serious about international development. The best way to make baseball bigger is grassroots up I say. 100,000 dollars though, surely they could chip in more.

I think this is good for The Netherlands. When I played in Holland(Youth Friendship Games-Bronze Medal), I was really impressed with the talent that the Dutch teams had. They played "little ball", which is an American team's worst enemy in an international tournament. To me, an American team that wants to suceed in a imternational tournament, the team needs to understand that they need to play tight defense, pitch well, and when the sitution calls for it BUNT to manufacture runs

First of all, welcome Sean128. I am sure you will enjoy your stay here at BBF.
Where did you play this tournament and when was it? I am just curious. I know that Pirates in Amsterdam used to host a lot of this kind of tournaments.

Gruezi! I coached in Switzerland for several years and got the chance to play in Holland many times. Also, Neptunus(??) used to visit the Therwil Flyers Tournaments in the mid-80s. The Netherlands national team is fun to watch and of all the European countries, the Dutch will produce a significant major league players first.

Yes Neptunus (Neptune) from Rotterdam. The most dominant club in Dutch baseball ever. Neptunus' site (http://www.neptunussport.com/index.php?pageid=76) Unfortunately not in English.
