I'm looking for any info on an Alfred (possibly Albert) Smith (not black) who played for the Indians in the 1940s or 1950s. Born approx 1920 in Baltimore, MD but was from Toledo, OH. Played for the Army prior to that. Any ideas on finding photos?

Is this the guy you are talking about?

I don't think so. He was a bartender in 1961 in CA (age 41) then moved to Yuma, AZ but from there I don't know. I don't know where to look from here but thank you.

That's the only Al Smith who ever pitched for the Indians. There are no other Al's, Alfreds, or Alberts associated with them. Here's a team photo from 1945. I think Smith is in the middle row, first person on the left.

Also here's a link to baseballlibrary.com for an article on him.

These are the only Al Smiths I know of in that time frame who were Indians.
