Hey guys,
I have run out of larger envelopes and cannot get to the store to buy more untill the weekend and I want to send some requests out tomorrow... would it be ok to just fold a SASE in half and send it or should I wait to get the larger envelope?
Thanks

Not that there's anything wrong with folding an SASE in half, but I personally would wait to get a more appropriate parcel. The way I see it, a folded SASE is fine for requested receipts from purchases and such, but if it were me asking for a TTM, I'd want the recipient to receive as respectful a looking envelope as possible. But that's just me. Other, more knowledgeable opinions from those with experience are quite welcome. :)

I had never really thought too much about this one. When I send out TTM I usually just buy a box of standard envelopes and fold up one of them for my return envelope. In fact I usually use the folded return envelope to protect the cards a little more. I haven't really seemed to have any problems doing it this way....

I never really thought about it either, I usually run out of both at the same time (since I buy boxes with the same amounts), but since I have had to send out some letters I ran out of the larger ones. I have always wondered a good way to protect the cards.... Thanks!

Some food for thought:
1 box of long business size envelopes: Around $1.50
1 box of small envelopes: Around $1.00
Catch my drift?

Yes business size envelopes are indeed 4 1/8 of an inch by 9 1/2 inches.
Small envelopes are 3 5/8 of an inch by 6 1/2 inches.

Anytime dude.
If memory serves me right the business sized ones are referred to as #10's. Or #9... I forget. Jot down the mesurements that I provided you in the above post, and bring them along in case the post office clerk is puzzled.

you dont have to fold the envelope at all. I use two of the same size envelope, you just have to line up the SASE and the sides and push it down carefully. This is how I do all my ttm requests. Two standard size envelopes, no folding necessary.

I will have to try that...the no folding thing!!! But wait, there is a reason that I fold the SASE envelope...it protects the card(s) on the way there anyways.
I will take my chances on the way back!
I use the business size one myself as I too but them buy the big box...Staples usually has them for around $5.00 per 500 on sale. It amazing to me to see how fast those goes sometimes.
I know people in the hobby that use a thin cardboard protector that holds three cards at once when they send out. This protects the cards from bending...the cards never leave the protector and the cards are lined up so that the signee can easily "do his thing". The protector has a solid back.
One not to funny story about that protector issue...a young man in the hobby sends three cards to Joel Zumaya, and he is kinda rushing the letter...puts one of the cards in backwards (OOPS) and one realizes it after its sealed.
Mr.(?) Zumaya apparently didn't like the idea...took the mis-aligned card out wrote the F-Bomb on it and sent it back. Needless to say, the young man and his parents weren't impressed with the idea. Calls were made to the Tigers and photos were displayed on his web-site. Nice work Joel.

Hahaaha thats a funny story Bill! I havent had any problems with bent cards. I just put my cards inbetween my folded letter and the SASE on the way there, and on the way back the cards are on there own, but sometimes I will write DO NOT BEND on the envelope, and that seems to do the trick.
