Elston Howard was so impressed he bought a third interest in this baseball related patent. I believe it to be the first.(I could be wrong though) He,an engineer and another man owned the patent rights to this.

I ran across a website citing 1967. However it was FILED 11/27/67 and issued on 7/28/70.
