Granted there are alot of questions arround his health, If I were a GM I would take a chance on him considering he'll probably get less then he's worth. Any idea where he will land?

I'm Really suprised that he hasn't been signed by anyone yet, he's a very decent pitcher. One that I thought would be sought after by many teams.

Right now, the frontrunner to sign Mulder appears to be Cleveland. The Indians and Rangers have both offered 2 year deals.

the cardinals are still in the running. it's said that mulder likes it in stl and i think the cards are willing to offer him a two year deal. shockingly, i think they're trying to get his price down.
the shoulder injury is a major concern. the 07 season is probably going to be a lost year for him. so you're going to be paying him two years of salary for not much more than a year of work.

I wouldn't mind having him back in St. Louis if the price wasn't too high. Maybe Duncan and LaRussa could work some magic with him like they did Carp.

I hope he does not come back. He is too damaged, IMO. There were whispers of his arm problems BEFORE he ever came to St. Louis. The small success he had was the last remnants of his guts and guile, and to resign the guy would be a mistake, IMO.
Duncan is great with the Suppan's Williams, and hopefully Benton's of the world, but those guys all had healthy arms.
Mulder does not.

Carpenter blew his arm out and didn't even pitch the first year he was under contract with the Cardinals. He seems to have done alright with the guidance of Duncan, no? Maybe lightning won't strike twice, maybe it will. But like I said, if the price is _not too high_ I'd love to have him back. If we can get him for a reasonable price why would you not want him? I wouldn't be happy if we went out and gave him some nutball 10-11 per deal but 4-5 mil per over 2-3 years, I'd be fine with that. It'd be a moderate risk, high reward contract.

The Carpenter analogy is a good one..... I admit. He was 11-11 with a 4.09 in his final full season before arm trouble, and 4-5 with a 5.00+ in 70 innings when arm trouble struck in 2002..
Carpenter was 10-12 with a whopping 6.26 in 2000. Incredible!!

Mets- We have the money, and a lot of other factors to help us land him.

Like what? The World Series the Cardinals won in 2006?
