Hey guys,

I have bought many things from Ebay in the past but never any Baseball Cards. I was just looking around and I see so many people selling 10-100 unopened packs of cards. Are these legit for the most part? And also what kind of things should I look out for? I cant seem to find many places on-line to buy unopened packs of cards from various years that will ship to Canada except EBay.

This is a question that could be answered with pages upon pages of advice.

The best concise thing I can say without having more specific knowledge of what you're looking for is to judge each seller on an individual basis. If the seller looks worthy and has a good history, then odds are, they're okay.

For specifics, I'll be glad to help in any way I can. :)

Buying and selling on Ebay, which I have been doing for a long time, is all based on a person's feedback. It is the single most important thing to look out for when deciding whether or not to buy from someone. If a person has good feedback, then you know you can trust them. Personally, I never buy anything from anyone on Ebay unless their positive feedback rating is at least 98%.

You make good points about FB, and you're entitled to whatever standards you've set for yourself.

Thing is, feedback isn't everything. It is a voluntary system, therefore not everyone leaves it. Some buyers with less than satisfactory experiences do not leave it for fear of getting a neg in return (which can mean a poor seller will have a score better than they deserve), and some buyers who are completely satisfied simply don't leave it at all, perhaps considering it insignificant.

Further, many buyers, especially newbies, are a bit quick with the negative button, without realizing (or not caring) that trying to resolve their problem with the seller is the first step. Negative FB is a final resort, but many buyers don't adhere to that standard. This can give an otherwise good seller an unfairly poor percentage.

On the other side of the field, some sellers don't leave feedback, since it can take up a good deal of time, especially for Power Sellers. But, of course, FB is not nearly as important for buyers as it is for sellers.

It is true, however, that feedback is a decent indicator of a person's behavior within the eBay community. I can't say I'd never buy anything from someone with a less than stellar FB score -- especially if they have something I really desire -- and it's indeed a yellow flag about which to be cautious, but there's more to judging a seller than mere FB scores.

I know a great seller that I have been buying from for about 6 years now... I can provide his user name if interested. I've purchased packs from 1979 to 1989 from him and have pulled Gem rookies...
