Hi there, I was hoping someone knows who signed this ball. It was given to me by a scout in the Cubs organization but he couldnt remember who had signed it for him. Billy Williams is clear but who is the other one? I hope the picture id attached properly.

I'm thinking Kerry Wood

Looks like Kerryy Wood to me too. The 'W' is pretty small compared to the exaggerated 'K', but I can't think of anyone else it could be.

I actually have a Kerry Wood ball and it unfortunately doesnt look anything like this. Maybe its not a Cub?

It looks like it might be Bob Buhl, who pitched for the Cubs in the mid 60s.

Good guess, but Buhl signed his name much more ligibly.

This is a tough one. Hope someone figures it out.

I also thought it might be actor Robert Wuhl.

I'm almost certain the first letter is a K.

I agree I think its a K too. Also I'm leaning towards a B as the first letter in the last name.

I'd have to agree. Either a B or a fancified R.

Are there any markings on the ball or the box it's contained in that may indicate at least a year or an era?

The only KB's or KR's to play for the Cubs were:

Kevin Blankenship 1988-90
Kent Bottenfield 1996-97
Kitty Bransfield 1911
Ken Raffensberger 1940-41
Ken Reitz 1981
Karl Rhodes 1993-95
Kevin Roberson 1993-95
Ken Rudolph 1969-73

Great researching. :)

Okay, so, let's see. Either the second letter is something else, or, maybe it's not a Cub. Perhaps an Athletic? Perhaps a manager or coach for either team? A minor leaguer? Could even be someone not associated with the diamond at all.

But dagnabbit, I'm on a mission now. heh

Yes, and its not helpful. It's an MLB Allen Selig ball. I met the scout at Red Sox Spring training 2005. He also had an Ernie Banks ball that he showed me but didnt give me that one. I'm leaning towards some type of Cubs affiliation but thats just a hunch. The scout was an old-timer and it really could be anybody in baseball (or out) since he travels around for work. The fact that the sweet spot is signed indicates to me that either:

a.)The person that signed has an ego big enough to voluntarily sign the sweet spot of a baseball...
-or-
b.) The scout told the person to sign the sweet spot because he thought highly of whoever the hell this is.

I would be shocked if this turns out to be a bat-boy or bull pen coach.

I appreciate everyones help with this. I've been scouring the internet lately trying to find a match for this but no luck.
