Ill start with me, im Jimmy, ive been doing TTM for about a year now, the mass amount of my collection is white sox, but i still have many others. My highest success rates are with spring training, and the older retiered people c/o home. I am also open to doing trades with people, P.M. me about it if you want. :clapping

My name is Tony, I'm 30 yrs old, and this coming up Febrauray will be 20 years that I have been doing ttm (yes I started to write at the age of 10). My collection is absolutely priceless. I would like to thank my uncle for giving me the advice to start this fun hobby many years ago.

I sent a couple when I was a kid (I think I heard back from Dave Gallagher and Kevin Appier) but never got into the through the mail thing. After joining this forum and reading about everyone's successes and "war stories", it seemed like fun so I thought I'd give it a shot. As soon as Meiselman's book ships, I'll be starting.

What "war stories"? That the retired players write about?
And yes, it is fun to write and it is a better feeling to get back from them!

More the stories of the collectors...who signs, tricks of the trade, players who actually write back, that sort of thing. Been enjoying reading about it here.

Ahh... I see. I hope that I have halped someone out while posting in this section of the site. And I also hope that you guys enjoy seeing the scanned autographed cards that I get in the mail in Bill's 2006 thread.

I've been at the TTM game for about 2 years. It's been a fun hobby for me. I usually manage to get out about 20 letters a month....and I have a pretty good deal of success. I'd say I'm averaging somewhere around a 50% return rate....so I can't complain. As others have mentioned, I've found that the retired players from the 50's and 60's are by far the most accomodating. I am primarily focusing on Los Angeles Dodgers from all of their World Championship teams and former Rookies of the Year.

This hobby certainly makes checking the mail much more fun.
