No it came out almost a year ago, the complete set that you can buy though came out a few months ago.

Ok thank you for clarifying that. That's what happened; I bought the complete set.

The quality was down in the previous set, It seemed like I saw a lot of mistakes in that set. My Tom Gordon card has him in a Philadelphia uniform (which had to be created in Photoshop or something like that) and then at the top of the card it says "Yankees."

Usualy if they dont have enough time to photo-op a player beacuse they were aquired, they just take a picture of the player from the prerious season, and put it on the next year card.

I just started getting really interested in baseball cards last year in May or so. I bought the topps complete set mid-October. I know the topps 2007 will be coming out feb. 7- will the complete set be available too?

I saw the new 2007 design and I'm not impressed. I think the people at Topps are running out of design ideas. It looks plain and unattractive. But....whatever...who am I to say what's trendy and what's not. I'll still buy the factory set, but I probably won't open it.

Don't forget that the regular Topps is now considered a "cheap, base set", therefore they aren't going to necessarily have their crack team of designers working on wild designs for it.

exactly, regular topps is basicly ment if you got some pocket change and you wanna pick up a few baseball cards.

That may be all true, but considering the smaller set size and lower dupe rate than Upper Deck, it's a much friendlier set to build (along with Upper Deck's Fleer set). I also like building Bowman, Bowman Chrome, Bowman Draft, and Bowman Heritage (I'm wondering what they're going to do this year...haven't they done all the years including the prototypical 1956?), which are all Topps products BUT are better investments than plain ol' Topps with higher insert rates. More fun to collect, too.

Updates and Highlights did, which is basically like series 3
topps is good for ttm and stuff, and just if you like having cards of your favorite players, but the new rookie rules have really brough this product down now, along with most other products. Topps chrome has some nice parrallels in it, but I don't think I'm going to be gettin much 2007 topps this year, just the singles I want off of ebay sportlots.

I'm gonna be buying Bowman and Bowman Chrome by the box this year, not by the pack. Ditto to Bowman Draft and Bowman Heritage when they come out.

The prices have plummited for this product. You can easily go on ebay and find the players you want for very cheap. Upton and Maybin prices have dropped by almos 50% on when sterling first came out. That's all I do, but I also cannot spend $50 on a pack. However, with an auot in every pack, plus box toppers and all the other jerseys and stuff, sterling is so fun to bust.
Jimmy: Bowman Sterling is $50 for a pack of like 7, and over 500 for a box, and well over 1000 for a case. PLus, you can really only get it online
I too will buy a lot of Bowman Chrome this year, because it's (hopefully) going to be stacked with guys like Andrew Miller, Luke Hochevar, Max Scherzer, and (fingers crossed) Daisuke Matzuzaka. If they make an auto for him, you're talking around atleast $500 sell price for it. I don't know if Boras and topps have made an agreement yet though. However, Bowman Chrome is more expensive than most cards I buy. It's usually $3 for a pack of like 3, or $30 for a box. But I'll still probably buy a couple, and maybe, like 06 bowman draft, complete the set

If you really dont care a whole lot about value and flipping, than bowman is fine. (i like it too, cuz its a lot cheaper) But chrome is really the way to go, because usually chrome cards are worth like 3x more than non chromes, and also have the parralels and autos.

"because it's (hopefully) going to be stacked with guys like Andrew Miller, Luke Hochevar, Max Scherzer, and (fingers crossed) Daisuke Matzuzaka."
No, no, maybe, and no. Miller already debuted and is scheduled to have his MLBPA Rookie Card in the 2007 Topps set. It is technically his first card, and thus a true rookie card. Luke Hochevar's sole pre-rookie card may be the autographed card inserted into this year's Bowman Sterling set. Max Scherzer will probably appear in 2007 Bowman and/or Bowman Chrome (BTW, don't say that Bowman isn't good to collect...it has a different checklist than Bowman Chrome, and the first 110 Bowman Chrome cards, including Alex Gordon's are only found in regular Bowman packs). Daisuke Matsuzaka will be eligible for a true rookie card and is scheduled to appear on one for the 2007 Topps set, since he will be on the Red Sox 25 man roster.

I wasn't saying bowman is a bad set at all, I was just saying you can get more bang for your buck with chrome. Just look at the singles sale on ebay.
I forgot about Hochevars sterling, and also about Millers debut and the new rookie schmules. But I think Matzuzaka could still be in it. Maybe. Anyways, theres still other good 2006 draftees that werent included in 06 bowman heritage or draft, and bowman chrome is always a great set.

Topps regular series is a nice little set to build with my boy. I did the A&G set this year and am buying a box of Heritage (Topps not Bowman) as that seems like a nice set to work on...
Usually one box of Topps Series X should be enough to build the set....
Shall we start a 2007 Topps Set Building thread and start trading when it comes out:rolleyes:

"But I think Matzuzaka could still be in it."
Nope. If he makes the 25-man roster, he's eligible for an MLBPA RC. Remember when they changed the rules mid-season (thus preventing Andrew Miller from having a card)? And sure, Bowman Chrome is a great investment. Better than Bowman. But you have to buy regular Bowman packs to get the first 110 Bowman Chrome cards, that's what I'm pointing out.
"Anyways, theres still other good 2006 draftees that werent included in 06 bowman heritage or draft"
Agreed. From the Mets system only...Fernando Martinez (this one's gonna be worth the same as Alex Gordon's 2006 Bowman Chrome card...), Kevin Mulvey, Michel Abreu, Mike Devaney, Rick Rundles, Jesus Flores (I'm assuming he won't last the entire season in the Majors and will be thus returned in accordance with the Rule V draft rules). I don't think Bowman has printed a card of Alhaji Turay, either, though Upper Deck did.

Ok, looks like I should have researched this more. I didn't know about that part of the rookie rules. This whole thing is so messed up anyways. The only way to really solve it all would be to eliminate sets like bowman draft, heritage, and chrome, but I would really hate that, cause those are all my favorite sets.
Anyways, Linecum should be in it, Scherzer better sign soon, and I'm trying to think of others. Got any?

Can we find a collector who actually LIKES the MLBPA RC system? I have grown to hate that, although it makes collecting Bowman-type sets much easier. I think Linecum will be in it, btw.

its real confusing to me, thiers to many rookie cards now adays that arnt realy true rookie cards... its hard to explain.
Dalkowski110
01-21-2007, 01:17 PM
Yeah, it is confusing. For example, pick up a pack of 2006 Topps 1952 Rookies. In that pack, you may find a third-string catcher with the Houston Astros named J.R. House. Well, J.R. House had a 2000 Topps Traded card that also said "Rookie Card" on it. Ditto to Adam Wainwright and Ben Johnson. Compare this with Mike Pelfrey, Alay Soler, Craig Hansen, Mike O'Connor, and Mike Napoli, whose "rookie cards" are what I call "True Rookie Cards," or their first card to feature them wearing an MLB uniform. I consider this year's Bowman/Bowman Chrome/Bowman Draft/Bowman Originals/Bowman Sterling "Prospects" cards to be true rookie cards as well. They are the first cards showing the player in an MLB uniform. Anything else with a RC logo that isn't a first card? I just call those MLBPA Rookie Cards.
SouthSideChamps05
01-21-2007, 02:40 PM
Yeah, I refer to those MLBPA rookie cards like this: Josh Johnson 06 bowman draft "RC", and a real rc like this: Chris Parmelee 06 bcdp FY RC
Players that also had true "FY" rookies in 2006 w/ the logo are:
Charlie Haeger
Brian Anderson
maybe Dan Uggla, I thought i heard someone say that those were real rc's.
oh yes, Jeff Samardzija should now be in 07 bowman/chrome

I love the system, IF THEY'D ACTUALLY ENFORCE IT! Players should get their rookie card after appearing in an MLB game. Period. That's the system, but, inserts are exceptions, cue Bowman, and the system goes to hell. :hp

Haeger? Maybe, but not Anderson or Uggla.
Haeger is for sure a RC, his only other produced card was some carolina league all star card made by a non MLB/MLBPA company.
Andersons only other card was an 03 ud prospect premieres, which was an XRC. Many of the players in this set had real rookie cards later (along with these), such as Ryan Sweeney (05 bowman, topps, heritage etc)

Hey, I got some new info:
Matzuzaka should, and will be in 2007 bowman. Pretty much just like Jojima had an auto in 06, it will be exactly like that. Although it won't be like an Upton or Godon auto, there will still be one, and it will certianly fetch a dollar. This is all if he signs with topps.
The same can be said for Miller, who will also fetch a very nice dollar
Another person that might, and should be in: Fernando Martinez
Dalkowski110
01-22-2007, 04:30 PM
I was actually kinda surprised F-Mart didn't get into the 2006 Bowman Draft set. Ditto to Kevin Mulvey.
"Matsuzaka should, and will be in 2007 Bowman."
Only as part of the base set. Ditto to Andrew Miller. They won't/can't appear in the prospect set due to MLB experience or being on the 25-man roster.
