A pitching coach and a host of players. It was a gift from Ted Cabaniss' personal collection. The ball was/is schelaqued(sp?). Any thoughts on value?

I have a 72 ball that has Nellie Fox (one of the rarest sigs in baseball). I have gotten offers as high as $900 for it. Billy Martin on a Rangers ball is prob $125-150, if you have some of the other coaches from those early Rangers teams, you could be talking big bucks. The ball also could have Gaylord Perry and Bert Blyleven. Also, Billy Martin was the manager from 73-75, so I am not sure what/who told you 76. More than happy to help if you provide more details.

Looks like it might have been a game ball - scuffs and dirt under the shelaque - After a little research, it looks like names from the 74 or 75 team.
All names are in black ballpoint type ink except for Mike Hargrove - its in blue ball point ink.
Billy Martin
Art Fowler - pitching coach
Jim Merritt
Jim Shellenback
Dave Nelson
Jim Bibby
Cesar Tovar
Mike Hargrove
David Clyde
Merrill Combs
Rich Billip
Larry Brown
Jackie Brown
Tom Grieve
Steve Hargan
Frank Lucchesi - but the "si" is left off sig - Managed Rangers 75-77
Alex Johnson
Jeff Burroughs
Lloyd Allen

This ball looks like a misfit--mostly 75 though some 74s like Shellenbach. This ball would maybe fetch $100 as an early Texas Rangers ball. The Texas Rangers list out all past coaches on their webpage and baseball-reference.com is also a good reference point. I would say a 74 ball would be at $125 maybe w/ Jenkins and a 75 ball with Perry, Jenkins, Martin could fetch $200 with the right buyer. Unfortunately for you, it appears that your ball is missing all of the big sigs except Martin.

Had taken it to an Antiques Roadshow some 12 years ago and a Mastro appraiser said it was worth $600-$800 at auction at that time. I guess its only worth what someone would pay for it.
