Well fellow Bowman fans, I went out and got a box of 2006 Bowman Heritage, which just arrived at my local dealer's. The boxes contain 24 packs with each pack containing eight cards. A box is about $50-$60. The set is a mixture of the bigger MLB stars and some of the prospects Bowman released in their regular set, their Chrome set, and their Draft set. Each box comes with two memorabilia cards and an autograph card (I got two bat cards...Rafael Furcal and Nick Johnson...and my autograph was a redemption card for a Koby Clemens auto) Mets fans will be dismayed to see that no prospect cards exist of New York Mets players, although rookie cards of pitchers Alay Soler and Mike Pelfrey (both of which are true, first year cards) are included. Top prospects such as Alex Gordon, Nick Adenhart, Max Ramirez, Diory Hernandez, Brad McCann, Yung-Chi Chen, Clayton Kershaw, Evan Longoria, and Justin Upton (the latter three's first non-signed cards available in a pack!) are included. The two parallel cards are silver (which is rather repulsive) and 1949 Bowman-sized (which is actually quite well-done...note that only veterans and rookies have these cards except for a five-card boxloader pack of prospects). Because of the set's well-balanced mixture of established players with some of the best prospects in pro baseball (along with not making the mistake of 2006 Bowman Draft and having 30 of the set's best players be only autographs), I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating.

I like the content, but from what I've seen so far, I'm not too crazy of the look of the cards. Yes, I realize that they were based on teh original set and so we can't fault them for that. I'd still contend, though, that the original Bowmans didn't look that great.
