It seems that Keith Foulke will join the Cleveland Indians next season. (http://bvtn.blogspot.com/2006/12/wednesday-news.html) Foulke has struggled because of injuries but in 2006 his ERA+ was of 106 in 49 innings. The AL Central may quickly be taking over as the dominant division of the American League. They have the past two ALCS winners and have four legitimate contenders. They've lost Brown and Kouzmanoff in the trade for Josh Barfield, and they've also signed four above average relievers Joe Borowski (2006: 115 ERA+), Aaron Fultz (2006: 102 ERA+) and Roberto Hernandez (2006: 143 ERA+) . They added 3 relievers with closing experience to help out a bullpen that had to suffer through 3 blown saves (and 4 losses) from Fausto Carmona in one week after trading Bob Wickman.

I wish Keith well. It was apparent that his time in Boston was up, but I still do feel particularly indebted to him for his contributions in 2004, so I hope he's able to rebound from the rough time he's had lately.

Good luck to Keith in Cleveland -- could have been the Red Sox postseason MVP if it weren't for Ortiz. Hope he regains his old form.

Keith called the '04 championship year the winter before at the Boston Baseball Writer's Dinner, while accepting his Fireman of the Year trophy for the previous season..."This one is nice, but next year, let's win one of those ones with all the little flags on it." I'll never forget that moment, and what he did for the '04 Bosox that entire season.
I agree that it's probably the best thing for him to leave the Bosox, and it saddens me that he seems bitter and that some of the fans were getting on him. I'll always root for him, unless he ends up with the Yanks...I feel that at least some of his present problems stem from him giving his all to help pull out that WS victory.
Amazing what he could do with an 85-89 mph fastball, a terrific change off it, and excellent control. He could make good hitters look like dern fools.

Hope the best of luck to Foulke. Sox fans will not forget what he did in 2004.
The Sox do get a draft pick from Cleveland, no?

Sounds like somebody who gave the Indians three really good years from 1988 to 1990...Doug Jones.

I hope Keith is happy with the Tribe. Maybe he'll regain his form, but hopefully not against the Sox. :D
