I have never done TTM, so please excuse my naivete. Do any of you guys send balls/jerseys etc.? I am not really into signed cards anymore, as I just found a card collection was so difficult to keep track of. I do balls/bats and jerseys. I know some of you contact certain players frequently. I recently got Lou Brock to sign a base through the mail. Just wondering how this works and if this would work.

Thanks in advance.

Also, I pretty much only do Cubs and HOFers.

I can't help you there on sending anything but photos and cards but perhaps if you take a look at who does sign by going to the TTM2006 Success Thread you can see you is doing what. Just a suggestion.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

I mailed Duke Snider a Mitchell and Ness jersey along with $20....and it came back signed in about 2 weeks. I made sure to write "payment enclosed" on the outer envelope.

Is there a list of which HOFers/Cubs require payment? How do you know that Duke needs $20? Here is the list that I would like to send to:

Ernie Banks (Jersey)
Johnny Bench (reds helmet)
Wade Boggs (Bat)
George Brett (royals jersey)
Jim Bunning (congress stuff)
Rod Carew (anthing religious)
Gary Carter (Mets Helmet)
Dennis Eckersley (Ball)
Carlton Fisk (ball)
Bob Gibson (ball)
Mark Grace (Cubs Jersey)
Rickey Henderson (Base)--already got Lou Brock on a base
Paul Molitor (Ball)
Joe Morgan (ball)
Eddie Murray (bat)
Phil Rizzuto (Ball)
Ron Santo (cubs jersey)
Tom Seaver (ball)
Ozzie Smith (glove?/cards hat)

Private message me what address that you used. I sent to him and it came back marked "refused" "Return to sender".

I had heard through another collector that has had success with Mr. Snider that he would sign for a fee....although the amount of the fee was not specified. So my brother and I tried sending a ball to him for his signature along with $10.....and wrote payment enclosed on the outside of the package. Sure enough, a few days later we got the ball back...signed and inscribed with his HOF year.

So I figured if $10 worked for a ball, maybe $20 would work for the jersey....so I did the same thing again....and sure enough he signed my jersey for me. It's a beautiful piece.

I don't know if he has a "fee schedule" or a minimum fee....this is just what I have done and have had success with.

Sorry for the complete n00b question and I didn't want to start an entire new thread for this, but...
My 12 yo wants to start TTM'ing and I just got him the Harvey Meiselman's list, so the question is, if he sends a card does he also include a SASE with it?

Thanks in advance!

Don't worry about the questions. They aren't the first time they've been asked and they won't be the last. Yes, always include a SASE with every request. Otherwise, the chances of any type of a return will diminsh greatly. If you have other questions, just ask.

Good advice on all counts. That is the great thing about this forum, everyone is very helpful no matter what the question is.

I'm new here and I'm considering TTMing. Just two questions(that probably sound really stupid to you).
1) Where do you get the players' addresses?
2) This has really been bugging me: What does SASE stand for?

-Never mind, I searched on Google and found a site explaining it all. Just an update to question 1:
1) Is there a free way to get the players' addresses?

-Never mind, I found a site that gives you athlete addresses (Along with celebrity and astronaut addresses) for free. PM me if you want the URL.

Be carefull on free adresses, alot of the time they can be false, but other times they can be real. its risky.

This site has sucess stories for each address. I hope they aren't making them up.
