I just happened to be thinking -- what kind of All-Star team could I create using just players named "Joe"?

I would start with a pretty good outfield: Joe Medwick LF; Joe DiMaggio CF; and Joe Jackson RF.

Who would you choose at the other six positions (1B, 2B, 3B, SS, C, P) to fill out your starting lineup?

Joe Sewell mainly played SS, but he did play 3B the last five years of his career. The Yankees moved the SS to 3B. Funny how history repeats itself. You could make that A-Rodish move if needed.

If Medwick is our "backup" left fielder, who is Joe Starter in LF?

At third base I thought only of Jumping Joe Dugan of the 1927 NY Yankees -- although 1927 was far from his best year. Best solution might be Joe Mauer at catcher and Joe Torre at 3B.

I didn't know Arky Vaughan's real name is Joseph. Great bit of information (especially for this lifetime AL fan).

I was gonna ask if Jose would be acceptable, but have a feeling it's pushing the literal envelope.

Besides, we could prolly make a whole all-star team with guys named Jose. :p
