Per mlb.com we signed Ray King and Jason Simmontachi to non-guarranteed minor league deals.

I think King is a great addition, hopefully he can tandem up with Micha Bowie to form a good 1-2 lefty punch.

I say load 'em up and hope we can build a respectable staff out of the scrapheap. King looks like he might be a decent replacement for Stanton. Naturally, he has the requisite Bowden/Reds connection; they drafted him in '95. Simontacci is more of a long shot; at 33, he hasn't pitched in the bigs since '04 when he had shoulder surgery.

Simmontachi is a scrub...likely just a minor league innings eater for us.

King could be interesting. He was good just a year or two ago and played in Colorado so his numbers may be a little up and down.

If he can do decent here for half a season as the lefty guy in the pen maybe we can unload him for a mid-range prospect at the deadline like we did with Stanton for Shairon Martis.

Ray King done good for the Rockies in the 1st half of the season then got hammered in the 2nd half. It is fun to watch King do that waddle trot to the dugout when he gets yanked though.
