I wish we would get Marcus Giles but is alright if we don't. I think we need a younger 2nd baseman then Valentine. I hope we use Anderson Hernandez this year. His defensive skills are amazing but he just needs to improve his hitting. What do you think the Mets should do at 2nd BASE??? :gt

I wanted Giles too, but he obviously wanted to go to the Padres (the Mets seemed willing to give him more money and more years). I guess I'm fine with Valentin at 2B for this year, assuming that he duplicates his production from last year, but in no way should he be here after this season. Anderson Hernandez has a great glove, but I'm pretty confident I'm a better hitter than he is. Maybe a platoon between me and him in '08?

Stash has played well enough and he will be our number 8 hitter. Hopefully the whole year doesn't depend on the 8 spot in the lineup.

I wish the Mets would have signed Mark Loretta instead of re-signing Valentin

Now that Loretta is off whatever "diet" he was on a few yrs ago, he is back to being a forgettable player. I think Valentin is more useful, especially since we already have a hitter like Loretta in Loduca.
The Giles signing is the biggest bargain so far. Even if he achieves all incentives he's gonna barely make $4. Schueholz can't be happy.
