Looks like they are getting him for 1 year.

Helps with CF but he is pushing 40.

I think its an upgrade from where they were goign to be without GMJ but its definately not a long term solution.

Thoughts?

You'll like Lofton. He's an automatic .300/.360, will steal 30 bases and is a good, rangey centerfielder. His arm is below average and often looks like he's bored out there, but a good pick up. Remember, 40 is the new 30. :laugh

Yeah he is a solid player year in and year out. And if I remember right from his Braves days not a detriment in the clubhouse. I guess I was hoping for more than a 1 year fix but maybe this will buy us some time to find a good young CF.

If we sign Gagne we will have some room to move someone out of our penn perhaps for a young guy to take over next year or later this year.

So, what the OF look like now?

Wilkerson-Lofton-Freddy Guzman/Victor Diaz?

DH-Cat

Wilk is probably the one there, with the exception of Guzman with some potential.

I think more like Wilkerson/Cat - Lofton/Bryd - Cruz

DH - Cat/Wilkerson/Botts

Good signing for the Rangers. Only a one year commitment. Next offseason the likes of Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter and hometown boy Vernon Wells come free. With no CF prospects looming in the organization, big money can be spent on a quality CF.

being a big Braves fan as well, I would love to see Andruw come to Texas. Then again you can't really go wrong with any of those guys.

It's the contrary according to mlb.com

The Cat is supposed to DH and Wilky in LF.

If wilkerson isnt ready by opening day, who is going to take his spot? Guzman? Botts? Cruz?

I think he'll be ready. If not, Cat will probably play LF and Botts or Guzman DH. I think Cruz will start in RF.
