the orioles are at the winter meetings and once again making no moves with the exception of a backup catcher and utility infielder. wow thats going to help us win the al east or even a wildcard spot, thanks freddy and paul. this is crazy we all know the orioles arent going to make any moves, and are going to finish the year again in 4th place. they have to add 2 big pitchers to the rotation and add a big bat. schmidt is gone, zito isnt coming here. we are talking about a tim hudson deal which the braves would want a ton of prospects in return. the bullpen should be ok but the rotation is still up in the air. alot of possible upside but still alot of questions. should be another long year but i will be at the yard watching them all the time.

It all just passes them by...Flanagan is confused if he thinks all the deals are still done on a bar stool.

Dude, calm down. The Winter Meetings aren't a deadline. Plenty of moves can still be made. We made the Corey Patterson deal in January about a month after the Winter Meetings last offseason. The Kris Benson deal was made at the end of January. So deals can still be made.

We don't really need to add 2 pitchers. One proven vetern would be nice but is not needed. Our rotation is pretty decent, and a full spring training with Mazzone should help alot. A big bat is needed but its pretty hard to acquire one this offseason. Soriano and Lee were the biggest bats available and I wouldn't consider them big bats or worth the contracts they received. I've heard Richie Sexson may become available and should be a bit of a bargin since the Mariners are looking to dump salaries to sign Zito. Hopefully the O's will look into that. But to be completely honest I just want an adequate LFer I'll be happy. If we get a league average guy it will be an improvement. What the O's need to do is trying to get at least 81 wins and reach .500 for the first time since '97. We don't need to try and get a wildcard spot, mostly because its not realistic. Turnarounds like the Tigers had are very rare and probably close to impossible for an AL East team. What we need to do is get a few winning (not necessarily competitve) seasons together so we can get some respect back (mostly from players in the league) and than worry about the playoffs.

You have legimate concerns, but let's wait until February to start complaining. If Newhan and Fahey look to be starting LF at that time, then we can voice our disapprovals toward the front office.
