I think if you're the Marlins you do it. Sizemore is under contract until 2011 at about 4 million a year with an 8.5 million option for 2012. You look at what Gary Matthews, Jr. made this season and Sizemore is getting paid pocket change. He's also developing into one of the best outfielders in the game at age 24.

Willis is coming off an off-year and has thrown a boatload of innings since he has reached the majors. He's eligible for arbitration and could make more this season than Sizemore will in '12. I think he is a bigger health risk than Sizemore (mostly because he is a pitcher). I also think that the league adjustment would hurt Willis while boosting Sizemore.

In order for both teams to make this trade, it should be the Marlins tossing in the prospects and not the Indians.

Agreed on the first point, but I'd say Sizemore is abigger injury risk than the D-Train, he goes balls out every single play...he may get hurt going all out in CF.

Sure but Dontrelle doesnt exaclty not go all out when he pitches either....just that he plays every five games not every game.

If you have a bad rotation, I would consider this deal.

maybe you could switch your CF with one of your bottom or even middle of the rotation pitchers and a Prospect?

This is what i was talking about. Garko hasn't been a catcher now for almost two seasons. (is it too much to at least know a little something about the team you are commenting on?)

I also have a friend who is an Indians fan, and he was complaining after the Crisp trade trade that Garko/Bard are good enough young catchers and that they should not had acquired Shoppach. Also Garko was a catcher at Stanford. I assume that he can play catcher in Cleveland as well.

If you bothered to actually check the page you linked to you would discover that in the year 2006 Ryan Garko was exclusively a 1b, and that you would have to go back to the year 2005 to find a time when Garko was listed as a catcher, and back to 2004 where he was listed as a catcher first.

Everyone should have at least one friend who is an Indians fan - we are good people. However, with all due respect, its obvious your friend does not share the same opinion of Garko's defensive capabilities as the Indian FO does. Garko is, at best, an emergency catcher - it should not be his primary position.

(& i believe Shoppach outhit Bard against AL pitching, and Bard failed in his shot to force the Indians to move Martinez to first.)

Anyhow, to summarize, Ryan Garko is a 1b/dh who can be a #3 catcher. Basically another Mike Stanley.

If I was the Indians, I wouldn't do this deal. Sizemore is developing into an incredible run-scorer and leadoff hitter and is a great player. I don't know much about Garko, but I do know that Martinez is a good hitter out of the catcher spot. Despite the need for starting pitchers in MLB, I still think this trade would favor the Marlins.

The Indians would be foolish to make this deal. I think that Willis is very overrated and a move to the A.L. would expose him as the mediocre pitcher that he has been the past two seasons. I think that they already have a solid, young lefty starter in Chuck Lofgren, who could be in the rotation next season. I would rather see a Sizemore-Marte-Miller package for Miguel Cabrera.

Don't do it if I'm Cleveland unless it's Garko for Willis straight up. Willis is young and lefty but he needs to have at least an average season or some reson why he has had one great year, two pretty good and one bad in the last 4.

He needs to strike out a bit less often to continue to lead off, I would not suprise if he's lowered in the order eventually.
