I thought it was an OK movie.
Major League is still my all time favorite baseball movie though :D

Nothing upsets me more than a movie or book or story where a real idiot/mean/rotten person, after extended great times despite their shortcomings, temporarily falls on hard times, makes a minor change (probably temporary) in their lifestyle and then lives happily ever after....
I was rooting for him to fall on his face and never get up!
Yeah Charles Dickens doesn't do it for me!
That's what comedies are usually about and that's what Stan Ross learned in this movie.

I re-saw Mr. 3000 a few weeks ago, and I have to wonder, why isin't an all-time great Baseball movie for you? I really liked it, especally the ending ( I won't ruin it for those of you who havn't seen it), but most people around here don't bring it up during all the "greatest baseball movie" threads that we have around here.

Matter of taste maybe? It wasn't a bad movie, but it can't come close to movies like Field of Dreams and Bull Durham.

I liked the movie, but it couldn't really be taken seriously as a comedy. The Major League series was good too, but it was comedy, the movies weren't as deep as Field of Dreams and Bull Durham.

I liked Mr. 3000 and it really shows how you can't be a headcase in baseball(just look at the ending), but Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, and The Natural are ones I rank above it.

Don't forget Bad News Bears and A League of Their Own, both were great movies.

It wasnt bad, but it doesnt compare to the baseball comedies like Major League and Bad News Bears (original).

I remember when it first came out, a lot of people were hating on it, but I have to say that I liked it as well - a lot in fact. It certainly wasn't like Field of Dreams or anything, but it wasn't meant to be. So take it for what it was, as a good comedy about baseball.

I voted for "other". It makes my list of "top ten baseball-related comedies", but not my list of "top ten baseball movies".

It's a good movie if you are a baseball fan, but it's not even in the discussion as one of the greatest of all-time.

The Brewers were out of the race and they were trying to "help out an old friend."

Sure, but I should have such friends. I don't want to say anything more, to prevent plot spoilage. But I think a few liberties were taken that would not have happened in reality. And that hurts it.

I think its possible, It brought people into the park, and we've seen stunts wackier than this in baseball before (i.e;Eddie Gaigel, Disco Demolition Night) to bring people to the park

I wouldn't say it's really one of the best, you don't usually nominate a movie like that as the best movie, but it was VERY enjoyable to me. I liked it a lot. Good comedy.

Dane Cook isnt all that funny, only the Kool Aid man made me laugh....other than that, squat..he bombed on SNL....he's not funnier than Bob Levy or Ed McGonigal.

I saw it again a few days ago-a great, great movie IMO. I know it doesn't fall into what you would conventionally call movie masterpieces, but I've seldom had more enjoyment than I have when I watch this one. While Stan Ross is easy to hate and not the idea of an ideal team guy, I still like his character a real lot.
I'm actually hoping to get the DVD.

It's worth watching. Not a masterpiece, but I really enjoyed watching it. Funny, especially the Japanese pitcher who doesn't know how to curse. It's a pretty good movie, just not up there with Field of Dreams, Major League, and the rest.

I just saw Field of Dreams for the first time last week, and it's absolutly one of my top 5 favorite movies about anything ever, maybe #1. That being said, I still think Mr. 3000 was a great movie, although FoD was better.

I like Field of Dreams a lot too, the only thing that I don't like is the way they portray Joe Jackson. I think that movie, which is totally fictional, is the reason why so many people support him.
