The Brewers signed Counsell for 2 years, 6 million recently. I was a little surprised the opted to sign him instead of Graffanino, although apparently we could still keep him. Reactions?

I'd certainly hate to lose Graffanino, after the excellent job he did for the Brew the last 2 months of the season. Counsell, IMO, is mediocre, and his ability to play SS is really the only compelling reason to have signed him.

And seeing as we have Bill Hall, who played very well at SS most of the 2006 season, what makes Counsell so damned vital to the team's success?

I'd much rather have Graffy than Counsell any day!

Personally, I believe the brewers should keep Graffi and they should not have signed Counsil. Last Year Counsil bat .255 with 4 home runs and 30 RBI's. Now, Tony Graffanino bat .274 with 7 home runs and 59 RBI's. Graffanino is a more solid player who gets paid less than how much Counsil just signed for. Overall Graffanino is a veteran who can lead the team and be a solid producer.
