Elvis provided the link, but it said "F*** Face". The card held a little value for a while then fell if I remember correctly. He said it was an accident, he grabbed a bat for the picture. Who knows :D ...???

1.Trade Gary Sheffield to the Cubs for Rich Hill.

Don't do us any favors. The Cubs don't need this headcase.

For years, I carried a picture from one of the weekly magazines that appeared in the 50s, of of two MLB umps making a call at second base. One was signalling "SAFE", and the other was signalling "OUT". This was the days of three-umpire crews. Not only hilarious, but a perfect example of poor mechanics.

St. Louis was leading like 8-1 late in the game and I believe it was Tommy Herr who stole second base. This pissed the Giants off thinking the Redbirds were violating one of those 'unwritten rules' in baseball, even though running was the only way St. Louis really scored then. The Giants pitcher through inside on the next batter, words are exchanged, and both dugouts empty.

The photo in the paper shows McSherry standing between both teams, his arms spread out keeping several players at bay. It's like Moses parting the Red Sea :laugh

What level of ball did you Ump Bob?

Baseball: Little League and most other youth programs, including Pony, etc. Babe Ruth, American Legion, Parks & Rec, adult men's leagues. I also worked three Silver Bullets (women's team) games (first one in 1996 was taped by ESPN) against a local men's adult league team, a game between the Korean National team (prior to 1996 Olympics) against the High Desert Mavericks (Class A, California League). OIf course, also high school ball.

Softball: LL, various other youth softball leagues, high school, college (Jr & 4-year), men's fast & slo-pitch, women's fast & slo-pitch, girls' travel leagues, co-ed slo-pitch, Parks & Rec, church leagues. Was an instructor for one season in the San Fernando Valley Unit of the California Softball Officials Association. Worked HS playoff games, including LA City Semi-Final game.

Also worked football, basketball, volleyball, and AAU Novice Wrestling Meets. Worked for the Special Olympics as a starter for swimming meets, and as Clerk of the Course for track meets.

Wow, thats quite the track record for baseball. Still watch around a dozen games of legion ball a year.

Thanks for the reply.

The "mystery X" photo was of Roger Clemens during warm-ups in a... compromising position, with a Yankee teammate. Let's just say Roger was "pitching" and leave it at that. :D

I use firefox as well. you don't see the infamous red x with firefox, you just see nothing. That post had two photos, so you saw the 1st and assumed that's all there was. :D

Indeed. In fact, I'm so used to some things not working with IE (like Flash) that I always doublecheck with Firefox, just in case.

I understand 11-year-olds are quite adept at the art of graphic manipulation. Are you implying that 11-year-olds are somehow sub-talented? :waving

It is a pretty bad fake. I've gotten to the point where I question every single picture I see now on the internet. You can usually tell if it's a fake, and you don't even have to look twice to notice that one's a phony.

I fully agree. It was just the comparison of the work to that of a kid that got me. I know many adults who can be outdone by the digital work of kids. ;)

what's funny about that Fred McGriff one? because those commercials are so cheezy. I do laugh whenever that commercial comes on... particularly when the kids are swatting grounders to each other. It produced back-to-back-to back AAU Champions or something! lol and it's been on forever

Out of the kindness of his heart, Derek Jeter suited up for another team so they too could experience a player leaping into the stands to get the ball.
