If Babe Ruth was playing today and was a free agent after his "1921" season, what kind of a contract would he get in today's market? Would 7-years/$210,000,000 be a reasonable offer?
How about a Walter Johnson contract after his "1915" season?

you mean if he put the numbers up today that he put up then? Well that sounds right I think. But, if he were playing today who knows what he'd post. If he stood out today like he did then... his numbers relative to everyone elses... well, I think he'd even make more than that. It depends under what context you consider it.

If the league quality is the same as it was 80 years ago, then around that. But I doubt it.

If a team can get him to pitch like he did with the Sox and hit like he did with the Yankees, and he's in his mid 20's...then someone would pay him 30-40 million per year for at least 5 or 6 years, absolutely.

only a little more than Rodriguez makes, right? And A-Rod doesn't have an ERA under 2. :)
Actually $30 mil would be a bargain.

How about Ruth or Johnson being Japanese players, what do you think the posting fee would get up to?
