As a member of the New York Baseball Giants Historical Society( yes this society does exist) I would like to know why is Mets management only remembering Ebbets Field and Jackie Robinson and not the Polo Grounds or the NY Giants in there new ballpark. We had two of the greatest ballplayers to play in NYC, Christy Mathewson and Willie Mays also the PG was the sight of baseballs greatest home run Bobby Thomson and was also the home for the Mets for two seasons when Shea was being built in 1962-63 season. Perhaps Mr Wilpon the Mets owner and also an old Bklyn Dodgers fan still has not gotten over that historical day of October 3 1951

The Mets are ignoring a lot of history. Here is Grantland Rice, famous
sports writer, getting to broadcast a 1922 World Series game at
the Polo Grounds between McGraw's Giants and the upstart Yankees
of Babe Ruth.

Only two of the greatest ? Did you forget Mel Ott, who played more games in NYC than any other MLB player !!!! I also read once that the 1927 Giants had the most hall of famers on their team.
As for Wilpon, he needs to acknowledge the Giants connection too. After all, the Mets wear the black and orange very often !

This is less about greatness and more about a biased Veteran's Committee however. Frankie Frisch, who played for the Giants up until 1926 (and played with many of the players that were on the 1927 squad), lobbied for his friends to make the Hall. His influence led to several undeserving Hall of Famers, including most of the Hall of Famers from 1926 and 1927.
