I can't believe it, Hanley Ramirez won the ROY over Zim, WTH .

He was easily more valuable and worthy of the ROY over Zimmerman. Zim is 3rd among rookies this season, IMO.

It was a close race this year, and with the concentration of candidates in FL, it was pretty likely one of them was going to win. Zimmerman ran a strong 2nd, and only lost by 4 points. Given the field he was running in, that's nothing to be ashamed of; he had a great season, and should have a lot more. He gave me my #1 moment at RFK this year when I saw him hit the walkoff HR against the Yankees.

What a great game to be at!

He had 110 RBIs playing half his games in RFK and 20 HRs while playing godd defense, the only reason Ramirez won is because of his speed wich is a "natural talent" while driving in RBIs and hitting HRs is a skill but you have to know how to do it while stealing bases is only a matter of if you are fast or if you aren't .

WHAT!!!
Zim hit 29 HR!!
Had 110 RBI and made 12 less errors than him at SS, he is better defensively, offensively.
I can only say Hanley's faster, geez!

HR and RBI doesnt mean all that much. Hanley is a leadoff hitter, hes SUPPOSED to have less RBI.
Zim isn't better defensively, otherwise he would be a SS. Hanley plays the more important positions.

Yeah here we go with another position debate !!!

There's no debate really. SS is a harder position to play than 3B.
That being said, Zimmerman wouldn't have been a terrible pick, I just think Hanley was better.

Zimmerman was a near Gold Glove 3B; I watched Baseball Tonight a lot and I've seen at least 5 games where Hanley made a critical error that cost the Marlins a win.

Haha ok, I HIGHLY doubt Ramirez lost the Marlins 5 games with his glove. Especially because he has above average range. I dont know how many players actually cost their team 5 games, but Im guessing there arent many, and since Hanley doesnt have negativ win shares defensively, its probably not true at all.

I assure you. Hanley struggles to play line drives and I've scene quite a few bounce off his glove for an error.
(oh and it was more like 2 or 3 games, one early in the season, one near the All-Star break and one around August time)

Well yeah, i've seen his error totals, but i've also seen his above average range and arm.
2 or 3 seems much more viable than 5. But then again, with it being such an important position, how many shortstops dont have crucial errors that end up losing games? Im sure the list is very small or non-existent.

It was a monster year in the NL for rookies and any one of the top four could have been RoY in a "normal" year. Nats fans might note that Ramirez won despite having strong competition from two teammates.
Anyway it doesn't matter much if a guy wins an RoY. What matters is how he plays in future years.

Papelbon didnt win on the AL side.

Yeah, but like I said, it's more important from a SS than it is for 3B.
