The 1948 All-Star shortstop passed away last Tuesday:

In December 1949, the Giants traded Kerr, Sid Gordon, Willard Marshall, and Red Webb to the Boston Braves for Eddie Stanky and Alvin Dark. Interesting that the middle of the 1950-52 infield came together in this trade. I'm hard put to think of another time a team traded away a DP combo at the same time.

Kerr's record of 68 errorless games is amazing when you consider that he didn't have a glove that resembled a Venus flytrap and that the infields were not nearly as well cared for as they are today (no mid game ground crew treatment among many other elements). And I'll go out on a limb and hazard a guess that Kerr probably never performed one of "ole" backhand stabs at a hard hit grounder that are de rigueur with today's "gold gloves."
