To give a little context to our friends in foreign countries, November 11th in Canada is "le jour du souvenir", or Remembrance day. It started off as a day to remember the fallen soldiers of The Great war, hence the date. But in time, it became a day to also remember the soldiers of WWII, Korea, the peace missions across the globe, and finally, Afghanistan.

Let's indeed remeber the heroic efforts of our soldiers. From Vimy Ridge to Paschedale, to Ypres, to the Somme, then there was the battle of the Atlantic, Hong Kong, Dieppe, Monte Cassino, D-day, the liberation of the Netherlands, then the Blue helmets (innovation credited to then foreign affairs minister of Canada Lester B. Pearson), and the agitated surroundings of Kandahar in the present day. And the ones I forget.
