Other than part of the title of the article, I don't see any specific team names being mentioned, so perhaps they just threw the NY Metropolitans in there to offer a team name.

After he'd rejected the Nats' offer of $500,000 which wasn't guaranteed, would he now accept the league minimum? Me thinks that his superstar paydays are long gone.

Come back? More like do you think he is wanted? No one wanted him last season, when he was a year younger, why would anyone want him this one?

Anyone else think he's shrunk.... a lot?

Wonder if he's figured out how to speak English again yet...

If I remember correctly the Nationals "wanted" him last year, just not at his asking price.

its not about the money NOW.. only because he wants 12 more HRs.. so a teams supposed to risk valuable payroll and an outfield slot just for him to bat just over the mendoza line, hit 12 HRs and have a crappy OBP just for him to reach HIS glory.. i doubt it..

They do look smaller in the 2nd picture but it could just be the distance. If I was desperate for a power hitter I might consider him. He could turn out to be the next frank thomas. I could see a small market team take a chance possibly.

its more the roster spot than the salary considerations, since there isnt a team out there that wouldnt be able to afford $1M (max) flyer on the man.

I dunno about the next Frank Thomas. Frank was a ridiculous hitter in hte 90s and makes changes as necessary. Sammy's very stubborn and I doubt a year away from the game (in North Korea??) will change that. Towards the end of his career (I say career as he won't get re-signed), he was ridiculously pull conscious and had more holes in his swing than swiss cheese. He wasn't able to accept his deficiencies as an aging player.
