Who was the best MLB player whose last name begins with the letter "K".

Do you value HR power or Triple Crown seasons or pitching dominance?
Or longevity?

I think you forgot to include the name of the best position player who's name ends with K, namely, Al Kaline. Next to Mickey Mantle, Kaline was the best all around player in the Amercian League from the mid 1950's through mid 1960's. Great hitter and great fielder, Billy Martin called him the perfect ballplayer. I rate him #20 all time among position players.

Please switch mine to Kaline, as well. Thanks for the reminder, JRB.

As he now has four votes, I'm adding Kaline. DTF, please let me know if Kaline is your vote, so all the Other votes can go to him.

I confess I didn't even think of Al Kaline in this group.

I agree that Kaline was a fine player but IMHO not equal to Kiner -- or Killebrew -- or Koufax.

Close, but Killebrew edges them all out, I think.

I guess I see it as Kaline easily. Unlike Klein, Kiner, and Killebrew he wasn't averse to fielding a batted ball. Kaline is way ahead of these guys in Warp3 score of 130. Kiner and Klein only get a 76 score while Killebrew merits a 101.

The only way you can put any of these guys ahead of Kaline is if 5-year peak is the end-all and be-all of your evaluation process.

Due to his short career and being a pitcher Koufax isn't even in the hunt.

To my surprise, kaline had the highest % yes ballots of this "K" group.

We seem to favor position players in our balloting. I think we need more pitchers!

I was surprised when I looked at my rankings. I have Killebrew on top, just 2 slots ahead of Kaline (who in turn, is just a few slots ahead of Koufax).

Sandy all the way. Kaline was good, but Koufax was great! I wish he could have pitched longer, but arthritis got the best of him early.

Killer, but if I was just speaking of 5-6 years, it would be Koufax.
