I am sure it is common knowledge that the Bums trained at Bear Mountain, NY from 43-45. Does anybody remember those years? Did somebody actually take a trip over and watch them? I would love to know where the actual site was or see some photos. It seems to be a hard thing to get information on.

The Brooklyn Dodger videos that Peewee's son put together for ESPN has some great footage from those camps. It looks like it was beautiful there and having grown up near there makes it even more interesting

Lee Lowenfish's biography of Rickey notes that the proprietor of the Bear Mountain Inn, John Martin, was a rabid Dodgers fan. Also, Rickey's military connections allowed the team to use West Point facilities.

In another link that I will post shortly, there's a reference to some of the Dodgers skiing at Bear Mountain Park. Wonder how many ballplayers still ski after Jim Lonborg had his accident in the 1967-68 offseason?

I'm hoping I was able to post a photo of the fields at Bear Mtn.

Spectacular! What a lovely setting for baseball. Thanks, spring fever...I see you live not too far away from Bear Mountain.
