DODGER DEB
10-30-2006, 06:05 AM
Two events occurred on OCTOBER 30th that would affect the lives and times of OUR BROOKLYN DODGERS and all of US FANS...
On October 30 1945, Branch Rickey signed JACKIE ROBINSON to a contract with the Montreal Royals of the International League. On that same day, he also signed black pitcher JOHN WRIGHT.
On October 30, 1956, the Big "O" sold OUR EBBETS FIELD to a real estate group (Kratter Corp). Included in that contract was an "option" to extend it to 1959, and then to 1961.
The years in between saw OUR DODGERS become an incredible and very special team, one that gave us thrills and joy WE could only dream about. WE will never stop celebrating that glorious time. :clapping
