Not unless you count the 3 day long injuries..
Also, considering your 200 million dollar payroll has better bench players than some team's starting players, that isn't really worth mentioning.

Beyond all the talk of underrated and overrated, adored beyond belief to sneered at for being the only person to get credit for things so many others have dne and still do, Jeter had a great year. Which nobody can deny.

Howard, Jeter win Hank Aaron Award
Players honored for their big offensive contributions of 2006 (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061025&content_id=1723474&vkey=ps2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)
ST. LOUIS -- Ryan Howard of the Phillies and Derek Jeter of the Yankees were honored with the Hank Aaron Award presented by CENTURY 21 in a ceremony before Wednesday's Game 4 of the World Series at Busch Stadium, the result of more than a quarter-million votes cast by fans at MLB.com in a unique tribute to all-around offensive performance.
Howard led the Major Leagues with 58 home runs and 149 RBIs, far exceeding Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt's Phillies record of 48 long balls in a single season. It was a stunning power display in only Howard's first full season, and a further display came when he won the Home Run Derby before the All-Star Game in Pittsburgh.
"It was a lot of fun. I think first off, with Century 21, we might need to work out some kind of deal here," Howard said amid laughter, referring to the fact that the company also sponsored the Home Run Derby. "Maybe something about hosting the World Series, maybe you can win an MVP or something like that. I want to say thank you to ... everyone who made the vote, to Hank Aaron. It's been a pleasure this season. It was a blast -- hopefully many more to come."
Fans broke tradition with their vote for Jeter. In his best individual season since 1999, the Yankees captain batted .343 in falling just short of the American League batting title won by Minnesota's Joe Mauer. Jeter stole a career-high 34 bases, hit 14 homers, had 214 hits, scored 118 runs, drove in 97 more and provided an important offensive consistency to a team that wound up with its ninth consecutive American League East title.
"I sort of feel out of place," Jeter said to the amusement of all attendees. "With Hank Aaron, the first thing that comes to mind is home runs. Ryan Howard the same thing. So when people said what award I was going to win, I stuck my chest out, and I said, 'You know, the Hank Aaron Award. What do you think?'"

I know I am not that delusional.
How did Jeter get the Hank Aaron Award?
Definition:
The Hank Aaron Award is an annual award in Major League Baseball awarded to the top hitter in each league. That isn't Jeter.
David Ortiz should have won it hands down, Hafner a close second.
Jeter had a pretty weak offensive year when compared to everyone else in the AL. He may qualify for the Silver Slugger award against other short stops, but not even worth a consideration for the Hank Aaron award!
Jeter 14/97/.343/34 [not even close]
Ortiz 54/137/.287/1
These awards are starting to mean nothing to me anymore...

Like Travis Hafner will ever win this award when Sox fans vote for Ortiz or Manny and Yankee fans vote for Jeter or A-Rod. Awards vote on by fans have little meaning since the fan base that vote the most, will allow a player of their team to win. Lol, like people vote for the most deserving player? :laugh
By the way, I give the award for Ortiz or Hafner. Hafner would have won it without a doubt to me, if he didn't get injuried.

i thought that broadcasters and analysts from both radio and television stations vote for three players from each league and that fans' votes account for a minority percentage towards the tabulation.

How is Jeter deserving of this award, guys? This is the best offensive player in the AL. Jeter, because he plays shortstop and because of his defensive value may be the MVP, but how on earth is he the best offensive player in the AL? Does anyone really think his offensive season this year is better than Travis Hafner's? This was a ridiculous award selection. And Howard was a lot more plausible and defendible, but he didn't deserve it either IMO. Pujols did.

It's mostly a cheesy term people use when they find a player's name to receive oversaturation in the media. I've heard "Cap'n Intangibles" for Derek Jeter before. I've also heard a host of names for Alex Rodriguez, some of which I'd rather not repost here. However, "A-Wad" would be amongst the less objectionable of these, with "A-Fraud", amongst others, being the more objectionable.

E-Rod became popular this season, not among people that dislike A-Rod, but by his own fans. Mattingly nailed it on the head. People do start using cheesy terms when people overuse a player's nickname.
I put Hafner, Morneau and Ortiz ahead of Jeter. Jeter had a good offensive season, but it still can't compare to a typical Hafner season. Like I said, I would have voted for Ortiz myself, but Hafner, if he did not get injuried.
Lol, David Wright? What a joke. Beltran was obviously the best offensive player on that club. David Wright became a non-factor after All-Star break.
Despite all the talk about Pujols and Howard. Did we all forget about how good Berkman was this season?

E-Rod and K-Rod for all of his whiffs. it got pretty bad at times. Now Mets fans are saying they've supported their team since 1962, and don't boo their own players. Doesn't make us look good, makes them seem humble and like better fans.
For Yankee fans, we've been told to no end that David Ortiz is a certified Yankee killer. For Red Sox fans, they often can't stand that Jeter's name is used as the face of baseball and that he's the Yankee captain. Thus the harsh words. This Hank Aaron Award, as well as an 04-05 GG will do that.
Right now, I'm trying to find out where people would vote if given the 6 finalists for each league. Or if they'd have others listed (one player per team), who would they have picked?

So who's your top 4 in the AL, and top 4 in the NL?
I'd say top five are these:
AL
1. Travis Hafner
2. Manny Ramirez
3. David Ortiz
4. Jim Thome
5. Jermaine Dye
NL
1. Albert Pujols
2. Ryan Howard
3. Lance Berkman
4. Carlos Beltran
5. Miguel Cabrera
This is assuming we're just talking about HITTING, too. If we include Jeter's SB he goes up to where he probably is in the top five. Still I don't get him winning the award. He is a reasonable candidate for MVP, but not for the best hitter.
