Would Albert Pujols get in the Baseball Hall of Fame if his career ended today?
Food for thought...Sandy Koufax only had 5-6 dominating years before arthritis ended his baseball career. He is in the HOF and I agree he should be, regardless of his 3 World Series rings. Here are Sandy's stats:

Isnt there a rule that you have to play a certain amount of years or something like that? Good to see you again, Preston. :)

I am not sure Evan. Hopefully we will find out more soon. Good to see you :waving too! I really like this question. If there is a requirement [certain number of years to qualify], let's not let that be a factor and answer minus that prerequisite.
I think you have to have played at least ten seasons to be considered.

You are correct!

Let's omit this rule for this question.

10 years
Pujols had a monster stretch and is a dominating hitter, but he doesn't standout all too much against other players in this era, i voted no.
Koufax had ridiculously dominant years, Pujols may be the best right handed hitter in modern (last 10 years modern) times but there are guys who've put up similar numbers. His impact has not yet fully settled in yet (no rings yet).
One of the criteria of the HoF is long term and consistent dominance throughout a career. He has yet to accomplish that, though it's highly probable he will.

Yes, and he hasn't made it.
If he left because he broke his hip, I'm not sure he would get in. Not if he just retired, 2001-2006 just doesn't seem right for a HOF plaque that way.
It depends how it's approached. Was Colon anywhere close to Halladay last year besides staying healthy (not getting hit by a liner, some achievement)? But Colon did last the whole season and did well. He had enough to go on for the CYA.

Are you thinking of The Great Bo Jackson when you mention "hip"?
I was thinking more of something like a plane crash like Roberto C.

This goes in the Hall of Fame section, not Current Events

I can see what you are saying, but Pujols is currently playing in the World Series. I think it belongs here for now. Thank you for your input.
