On or off feild opinions of guys aside you have got to appreciate the efforts that some of these guys put forth to help people less fortunate as Roberto gave his life trying to do.

I see a number of sox at my job and what they do there is neither fun nor easy and doesn't get the credit or coverage it really deserves. Anything that spotlights this kind of service to the community IMO is great for all invovled.

Congrats to Carlos and keep up the good work!

delgado was thrilled to be named.
he wears #21; clemente has been his idol since boyhood.

He is also planning to expand the foundation for underpriveledged youths in Puerto Rico to NYC soon. During the award ceremony he looked to be in some obvious pain from his recent wrist surgery, and must undergo another procedure before the healing process begins. Congrats to Senor Delgado for earning the highest honor (aside from WS rings for teams) bestowed on an individual in MLB.

Focus on the positive, guys! He joins Mets Al Leiter and Gary Carter as recipients, too.
