the series is presently knotted at one apiece, and jim leyland has nate robertson tabbed to start game 7... if it goes that far.

do you keep the rotation as set, or do you juggle to get someone else on the mound with all the chips riding?

The manager can start anybody he wants. Theres no rule against it.

As it gets to the end of a series and possibly a game seven with everything on the line and no action for months afterwards, then for me its all hands on deck for the final games. Whatever it takes to get a ring in my estimation as a manager gets done. If I have to use the Roaster as a loogy then guess what kenny's going to be a loogy.

Petey's six shut out, no hit innings of relief in 1999 to win game 5 aginst Cleveland is a prime example.

I'd look at Game 6. Since this and Game 7 are both being played in Motown, if the Game 6 starter wins that game, then their team wins the WS, I'd have him go 7-8 innings. However, if my team were to win Game 6 to keep from being eliminated, and especially if I had a comfortable lead (7-2, for example), I'd only have him do 6 innings. If I was comfy with the pen, then winning the game may seem likely.

The reason for the fewer innings would be to bring him back to do an inning or 2 in Game 7, if it's possible. Randy Johnson was the only pitcher to win Games 6 & 7 in 2001, to my knowledge. In 1960, Casey Stengel kept Whitey Ford in longer than necessary, so he was unable to pitch in Game 7, which the Yanks lost on a solo walkoff HR.

So it's basically whether or not we win it if Game 6 is won, or merely tie it up. Also, how strong is the available pitcher for Game 7 (even if not an ideal choice).

Hey, I remember Willie Randolph started some pitcher (Steve Trachsel) in the NLDS for only about 3 innings, then went straight to the pen. If the pen is your strength, don't be afraid to use them in combination as if they were your starting pitcher.

With all the rain delays going on, what not throw Rogers in game 7?

With all the rain that's going around, why not make sure that Kenny Rogers has managed to wash his hand off by then? :D
