Hi Everyone,

The "Go Get 'Em Tigers" ringtone is the most popular download at MLB.com.
Artie Fields wrote the tune in 1967 when he was approached by an advertising executive in Detroit to write a song about the Tigers for a bank promotion.
The song played on every radio station in Detroit and was played again 19 years ago when the Tigers made another run for the pennant. People in Motown are singing it again, and 85-year old Artie Fields pulled a swift marketing move when he authorized the use of "Go Get 'Em Tigers!" as a ringtone.

MLB.com picked up the story and you can not only read the article about Artie Fields, but if you can also hear the entire copyrighted LifeTalk piece on the site as well. Go to MLB.com. Click on the "News" icon at the top of the page. When that comes up, scroll down to "More Headlines" -then click "Download a hot Motown ringtone"- you'll see the story by reporter Mark Newman. At the top is a blue link to "Hear the story behind the song."

Comerica Park is fired up tonight, and thousands will be playing the
"Go Get 'EmTigers!" ringtone.

Thought you might enjoy the history behind the song. Detroit media has done a million sidebars about baseball in Motown from the number of hot dogs being sold to the name of a loyal 102-year old fan, but no one seems to be asking who wrote the song they're all singing. They're playing his song but nobody knows his name. It's Artie Fields.

"Go Get 'Em Tigers!"

Is this what's known as "spam"?

Maybe, but it's quite creative for spam. Most times there is no kind of story or anything, just a "come to this website and buy my stuff."

Sorry, if I didn't follow procedure. I submitted the story as a piece of history in case anyone is interested in the story behind "Go Get 'Em Tigers!"

Didn't mean to offend anyone and am not selling anything. The composer is 85-years old and I just wanted him to get some credit for a tune that is getting a lot of play.

Thanks, and again, sorry if I offended anyone.

I understand the spirit of the post, so I'm going to let the majority of it remain. The links, though, will be removed per site policy.
