Ok guy, there's some decisions to make here concerning FA's, here's the list of guys that are eligible this year..

Antonio Alfonseca
Rod Barajas
Mark DeRosa
Adam Eaton
Jerry Hairston Jr.
Carlos Lee
Gary Matthews Jr.
Vicente Padilla
John Wasdin
Kip Wells
Eric Young

Who should be re-signed, and who should be kicked out the door. I personally hang on to DeRosa, Hairston, Padilla, Wells, and maybe Lee if the price is right. Nevertheless, signings are going to have to be made on the market to be competative next year.

Just heard on the news this morning that GMJ's agent said that Gary fully intends to "test" the free agent market starting with a trip to Anaheim.

Im sure he will. He's going to get paid this winter, and it isn't going to be in Texas.

I actually don't think loosing GMJ will hurt the Rangers that bad. What I would like to see is the Rangers trading Blalock and one of their star minor league pitchers for at least a #2 starter or a quality closer and left fielder. I think that main focus for the rangers has to be to resign derosa and either Wells or Eaton. Next year, the Rangers have to focus on resigning TEX, although I hear his is most likely not going to stay with Texas.

"An American League team official told Newsday that the Yankees are open to all kinds of (trade) packages. And Cashman reportedly could accept a deal that would include prospects, bullpen help or a starting pitcher.

The Rangers and Indians are thought to be among the AL teams interested in a possible Sheffield trade. But the Yankees might avoid trading him to an AL team simply to avoid facing him too often next season."

What do Ranger fans think of Gary Sheffield?

and what would you be willing to trade?

Not sure. It was a small sample=size, but Sheffield appeared to have lost some of that legendary bat speed. He wasn't hitting the ball with much power.

I'd like to resign Padilla, and DeRosa(depending on his asking price). GMJ seems like he wants a big payday, and as good as he was last year, I'm not confident he'll repeat it again.

The free agent pitching market is so horrible, I think trades and internal development is the only way the Rangers will acquire a quality, affordable pitching staff. I'd stay away from Zito.
