I like the Yankees (except for Sheffiield, Cashman, & Steinbrenner). I have to go with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The "Los Angeles" thing really bothers me. I should have rooted for the Brooklyn Dodgers as a kid, and been taken to games at Ebbets Field. Instead, I got Yankee Stadium, and Shea Stadium. Although they are great stadiums, the atmopshere of Ebbets was something that the ball-fields of today fail to achieve.

Lol, I posed this question to my father and without even hesitating he answered "The Yankees".

It's almost a toss-up between NY and SF, as you may well imagine. All things considered, I would have to say I hate the Yankees more. Partly because of jealousy but mostly because of resentment for all the $$$$ they throw at almost any superstar free agent.

As an old Brooklyn fan, I hated the Yankees and the Giants, probably equally, but more often the Giants, as we played them 22 games each season and only played the yanks a few exhibition games right before the season started and then again at the end of the season in the World series. So I hated the old Yankees and cheered for the old Dodgers. I do not cheer for the "new" Dodgers, that team of imposters on the left coast, nor do I hate the "new" Giants, that team in northern CA. And I have to admit that when Derek Jeter, flipped to the catcher to stop a run from scoring in the World Series of 2001, and then they lost that series, reminding me of past series lost by heartbreakers, my sympathies made me an intermittent Yankee fan. I still find myself cheering, quietly and not openly, for the Yanks, when certain players are at bat (mainly Jeter, Posada, Cano --named after Jackie--, Cabrera, Williams, Matsui) but definitely not A-rod, Giambi, Sheffield.

You are a true Bklyn Dodger fan !! I hate the Yanks through and through from when they used to play the Mayors Trophy games against the Mets way back when. Im also against inter league play, to me it has no business being in the schedule but thats another matter.
Im only 46 and went to my first game in 68 at Shea, i lived only 5 blocks from the stadium in Corona and used to walk it there. I went to maybe 20 games in 69 and went to game 4 of the series with my dad. Hooked for life, lol.
Anyway, one game i went to as a kid i went to wearing a yankee cap and an older guy asked me if i was a Yankee fan, i said no i was a Mets fan. He told me he was an old Bklyn Dodger fan and he hated Yanks beause they had to play them in the world series and lost quite a few to them. He said if youre a Mets fan you are a National league man and got to hate the Yanks and the rest of the American league. So i threw the Yankee hat out and that was that, lol.
Anyway, i have read about 10 books on the Bklyn Dodgers and gotten to know what an intense rivalry they had with the Giants. Today they make a big deal about the Sox/Yanks thing but to me it doesnt even come close to the Dodger/Giants rivalry. Thats television for you. But the rivalry still exists as im out west and get the Dodger games out here and when they play the Giants i always tape the game so i dont miss anything good.
Oddly enough our biggest division rival, the Braves dont bother me. The only thing that bugs me with the Braves is they only won it all one time. What a waste.
Sorry to ramble.

I hate the Yankees and Giants. I was a Brooklyn fan before a Red Sox fan :( Too bad my first favorite team hadnt been a team in 40 years. All the magical words I read drew me in. :(

If it is limited to those three: LALA Dodgers. If not: Atlanta Braves.
If not limited to baseball-the font of all evil: the University of
Alabama Crimson Tide (Any and all sports)!

I was basically agnostic about the San Francisco Giants; their New York counterpart, of course, was an entirely different issue. While the former mayor of this city and current Yankee mascot, proffers the opinion that he was one of the few Yankee fans in Brooklyn, my experience was somewhat different. I knew a lot of local Yankee fans: those guys who were basically front runners (the US Steel analogy), those guys who, for some reason, didn't like the Dodgers, and yes there was a contingent of Brooklyn natives who fell into the psychological mire, and those guys who had somehow slipped across the bridge, or come through Queens, from the Bronx, to stain our neighborhoods. What there wasn't, to my knowledge, was many New York Giant fans in the borough of Churches, at least none who worshipped in public, preferring the privacy of their homes or the carriage rooms of their apartment houses for their pagan rituals. The Giants started and remained at the top of my list (and no, hate, is not too strong a word) for my tenure as a Brooklyn Dodger fan. It was the reason I became a Cleveland Browns fan, unable to bring myself to root for a team, in any sport, that carried, what was to me, the scarlet letter of " New York Giants." I must therefore submit, with all due regard and respect, that your list is lacking: It is like enumerating the despicable people of the twentieth century and ommitting Hitler, or, worse, O'Malley.

Dodgers. Still not over the 55/63/ and 81 WS. Even tho I was only 3 in 55, I have had to read about it since.
