In 1924, Babe Ruth played a barnstorming game in the rugged logging town of Dunsmuir, CA. He loved it there, in fact he returned to Dunsmuir several times in his life to hunt and fish. I traveled there recently in search of the field where he played... here's what I found...

Amazing, do you have any still shots of the field?

Richard--I took a lot of stills of the field. It's amazing in that virtually *nothing* has changed from back then. Let me know if you'd like one.

Richard--also, not sure if you saw the other videos I posted here, Forbes Field and Ballparks Then/Now, but you might like those as well. I have another I'm posting today or tomorrow that's related to Babe Ruth.

By the way, Dunsmuir is also where Ruth became an official member of the Elks Club :)

That is a cool little piece of history. If I ever find myself near Dunsmuir I will be sure to check that out.

Does anyone know of Babe Ruth coming to Canada? I have heard that he came to Toronto once, and hit a ball into Lake Ontario. That might be an absolute myth though.

He did in fact hit a famous semi-pro shot in Ttoronto and a marker is located at the site today.

He went to Montreal and hit a very long home run at Guybourg Stadium
