On the absolutely incredible pitching of CLEM LABINE, and the clutch hitting of JACKIE ROBINSON, WE beat the pinstripers 1-0 in Game 6 of the 1956 World Series, 50 years ago today.
I was at that game, and it was one of the most thrilling games I have ever seen. CLEM WAS MAGNIFICENT - and OUR JACKIE did what he did best....come through with an amazing hit in the 10th inning, to win it for US. :clapping
The red banner headline of NY Journal-American the next day read this way.....
"TURLEY SPUN ASPIRIN ALL DAY - BUT CLEM, HE GAVE 'EM MORE RELIEF!"
