If the Athletics are beaten by the Tigers, would 2006 still be a successful season? I would say yes, because advancing past the first round was a big hurdle for the Athletics, and the rest is basically a gift. What do you think?

Of course it would, mainly for the reason you gave, but also, of course, because they won their division!!
