oh my God what are they thinking, if a guy can take a team that used what 23 rookies and almost, ALMOST!! make it to the playoffs and you fire the guy, il be suprised if the Marlins get as close as they did last year, this year

That is what we are used to, firing or selling everyone on the team, but well at least the new manager has a very good backgroung. I don't think that Joe Giradi deserved that but i do think that this manager will do as good of a job as he did.

well Joe foresure was great here in Florida and they fire him, that was a huge shock to me, they were on a hot hot streak at the end their, with this team now with a little more expirience they could go a long way next year.

Joe was a below-average manager who didn't know when to substitute pitchers and when to play some of his ball players. Hadn't it been by Beinfest and the front office, we would've never seen the likes of Olivo behind the play and we would've never seen Nolasco and J.J. starting. He lost approximately 10 games because of bad pitching substitutions. I think we would've been better off with John Boles managing this team.
All the games the Fish won were because of the great players Beinfest brought in.

I don't think he is the best manager ever but i don't think he is a below average manager also. He did some mistakes that costed us some games and also he was too conservative (my opinion), but he also had a thought job with a teem full of rookies. It is true that they had a lot of potential but how many teams have you seen with players that had a lot of potential like us and did win as many games or took another manager to get the best put of them.

I forgot the bunting in the first inning with Uggla, 27 HR and 90 RBI's hitting second. I guess we could also call him the really-killer too.
Yes, the rookies overachieved, but once again, Girardi never hit a HR nor pitched one single inning.
Look, it's true that he had a tough job with the rookies but these rookies were the ones hitting, fielding, and pitching. When he had some sort of impact in games, after the seventh inning that is, he let us down again and again. The Marlins were the team that most leads blew after the seventh inning.
What does that tell you? Well, two things. Once, the bullpen was atrocious. Two, the manager didn't know when to pull the relievers out of the game or didn't know which reliever to go to.
Listen, I am going to put it this way. Hadn't Girardi been there, and Fredi had(by the way, Beinfest the Genius' choice from the begining), I am sure the Marlins had won 10 more games, easily.
Thank goodness this aint this other board..we'd be banned for speaking ill of Joey Pitbull.
I doubt Fredi is going to tell Loria to shut up in public

10 wins... had those 10 come from the right teams,Phillies, Dodgers... would there have been playoffs in South Florida again?

I don't know if they would've made the playoffs. Now, I am totally sure that he had to do with at least 10 losses and I hated all the games we lost in the seventh or eigth innings. The most frustating moment of a baseball game is when your pitcher is standing there, giving up runs and your manager, in the only instance of a baseball game when the manager matters, standing in the dogout watching the game unfold. And we saw that happening way too many times this season.

I've never come so close to renouncing my Marlins' fan status then when the Marlins lost those 7 straight games that sent their record to 11-31. It was between the Braves and Devil Rays, and most of them were games the 'pen blew. I mean lets also face the facts, the Marlins scored an average of 3.3 runs, and commited several errors.
Maybe there were at least 10 games they should have won, but I'm sure there were at least 10 games they should have lost too.

Thank God I only listened to those games in the radio, I was out of town and the only way of getting them was to listen to Dave Van Horne (which I personally don't like as a commentator, bring back Joe Angel please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) otherwise I would've probably done the same thing.
Now, out of those 7 games I blame Girardi for 4 of them. two in TB and two of the four in ATL. The fifth would be a game against WSH in Dolphin Stadium when he brought Herges in the ninth... I mean, I am sure I can find more than 10 that he lost.
You brought a good point. Now, my answer will be the following:
What did he do that HE won those 10 games you're talking about? That I know of, Girardi never pitched a scoreless inning, nor he hit a homer, nor de he turn a double play. Managers can win games (ala Tony Larussa against the Mets in game 2 of the NLCS when he brought Taguchi to play D and provide a righthander hitter against Billy Wagner on the 9th) but they surely loose more than what they win. What did he ever do to win a game for the Fish? I mean, he bunted our best hitter for a while in Uggla in the first inning when Hanley was already in scoring position?
Help me out, because I don't think where he won more than 10 games.

damn..I remember watching games on TV and turning off the sound..putting Angel and O'Brien on instead...
Girardi's major problem was that he did not work well with others. He showed it all last season and I doubt he'll get another managing job anytime soon
Just read that Fredi has rescinded Joey Pitbull's facial hair ban.
Always knew Fredi was a great guy...

by the end of the year i bet, that fredi will not be here with the way our management has handled managers in the past

Fredi will still be your manager. Isn't going to hurt to have a local boy as you try to get a new stadium.
Management also knows he isn't going to talk back to them in a belligerent manner or beat up any of his players.
I know Fredi from his days of managing the Miracle back in '91. If only Loria had let beinfest hire him before the 2006 season, you wouldn't have had what happened in 2006.
