So I was watching the playoffs yesterday and they brought up the fact the combined the Yankees and Mets brought 7,542,917 people to the ballpark, then they went on to give the population of New York City, which is 8,104,079. and they were absolutlly AMAZED of the fact that almost their entire population had attended either a Mets Game or Yankees Game, which got me wondering. So here are the Pittsburgh Stats, 1,861,549 Attendance this year with a population of 2,358,695.

Yet another reason to believe that Pittsburgh is a great baseball city expecially when given something to cheer about.

Hey, as long as they stay in their respectful order of the division (somewhere below the Cubs) then they are an awesome baseball city. :D

so what's the general metro population around NYC and Pittsburgh?

i know in Cincinnati that a significant portion of the draw comes the rather large urban areas around it...and i also know that Kansas City doesn't have such a sprawl, and is almost entirely reliant on the city proper for attendence.
